Looking for a simple marketing plan?
Maybe you like the sound of a marketing plan, but don’t need something as extensive as a full Strategic Marketing Plan? Then this is for you!
In fact, that’s how I run my own business and marketing activities: with a simple, one page marketing plan.
What’s in this simple marketing plan?
The One Page Marketing Plan gives you a checklist of the marketing tasks you’ll need to complete to achieve your goals. The tasks are in priority order, so you’ll know exactly what to focus on. Your job will be to work through the tasks.
Usually the tasks in the One Page Marketing Plan are presented by quarter (rather than month-by-month). This gives you a little more flexibility as it acknowledges that some months are more productive than others!
The marketing tasks will focus on your Marketing Foundations and Customer Retention first and foremost. (Read more about how this works here.)
So what’s the Marketing Report?
The Marketing Report is a personalised document that I’ll write for you. It gives some information and explanation of the marketing tactics that appear in your One Page Marketing Plan.
Even though much of the content of the Marketing Report will be covered verbally in your marketing planning meeting, there’s a lot of information. The Marketing Report acts as your “meeting notes” to refer back to.
Who is the One Page Marketing Plan for?
The One Page Marketing Plan is exclusively for small businesses in New Zealand. (The prices below are based on consultations in the Auckland area.)
The Plan is equally suited for service business as for product businesses, or business-to-business or business-to-consumer organisations.
If for any reason we think that we won’t be able to add value, we’ll let you know before your marketing planning meeting.
And if you’re looking to do lots of advertising, then I’m NOT the right person for you: you’d be better off speaking with a media agency who provide media planning. I prefer to focus on relatively low-cost marketing tactics that’ll give you great results. 🙂
Do you have any tips on implementing the simple marketing plan?
You’ll be given advice on how to get things implemented at your marketing planning meeting. After all, a plan by itself isn’t much value, unless it’s actioned!
What happens at the marketing planning meeting?
The marketing planning meeting takes up to 2 hours. It’s crucial that we meet somewhere relaxed where we won’t be disturbed.
I’ll be driving the meeting, and will have lots of questions prepared for you. All you need to do is answer them as best you can. And if you can have examples of your existing marketing materials (e.g. brochures, letters, newsletters, etc.) to hand that’ll be really helpful.
How can I prepare for the marketing planning meeting?
Before we meet, you’ll need to complete and return a short questionnaire to me. This is so that I can come along prepared for your meeting.
At the meeting itself, the more information you can give me, the better. Here are the kinds of things that are helpful:
- Examples of your existing marketing materials (e.g. brochures, letters, newsletters, etc.)
- Results of marketing campaigns: numbers, statistics and spreadsheets.
- New ideas/products/services.
- Previous marketing plans or other strategic documents, e.g. mission statements, culture and value statements, etc.
- Financial projections/goals: high level information is perfect.
And if you don’t have any of these items, don’t worry! We’ll still have plenty to talk through and discuss.
Is a One Page Marketing Plan suitable for start-up businesses?
It can be a good way of getting your priorities clarified so you know which areas to focus on – and what you can put on the back-burner for now.
Will this marketing plan be suitable for keeping my bank manager happy?
If you need to provide your bank manager with copies of a marketing plan, this simple plan will probably be too short… it’s more of a “getting things done” plan, than a “talking about getting things done plan”. If you’re looking for a detailed marketing plan, then the Strategic Marketing Plan is for you.
What’s the difference between this One Page Marketing Plan and a Strategic Marketing Plan
The One Page Marketing Plan focuses exclusively on the tasks you need to complete to work towards your goals (i.e. your Marketing Tactics).
The Strategic Marketing Plan does cover the Marketing Tactics as well, but it also includes a Current Situation Analysis, a section on Marketing Strategies, and a list of personalised Critical Success Factors. It’s a very comprehensive document indeed.
That’s why one plan is about 40 pages longer than the other plan. 😉
Why is the price per business unit/target market?
Some businesses are straightforward in that they have one set of products or services, all aimed at the same target market. That’s what the standard pricing is based on for the One Page Marketing Plan.
However, frequently businesses are more complex than this; they may have different business units, each with a different target market. So consequently, developing a Plan that encompasses the entirety of such a business is a lot more complex, and takes a lot more work and a lot more time. A plan like this therefore requires a little more investment, to reflect the extra time taken.

- Priorities will be clear: which’ll help you plan your marketing tasks.
- Fresh ideas: chances are there’ll be some ideas and suggestions in your marketing plan which will be new to you.

Pricing and payment
All prices are in New Zealand Dollars and subject to GST.
All Marketing Plans require a 50% deposit payment upfront and work will commence once cleared funds are received. The balance will be invoiced when the One Page Marketing Plan is sent to you. Payment terms are strictly 7 days; please see our Terms of Business for more information.
The preferred payment method is direct credit to our bank account – full details will be on your invoice.
